Art in the (NEW) Park
Full Description:
Silhouttes of mountains, seascapes and faboulous cityscapes may not be the usual images associated with Goodyear but it will be--soon.
The planned Bullard Wash Regional Park, the proposed 30-acre part that will be built with amazing architecture of bridges, walls and concrete pathways, will be the canvas for the images the city is trying to craft for itself.
"Instead of the standard design of bridges, we're creating some custom graphics that really reflect the themes that Goodyear is promoting. There is a lot of opportunity to really integrate design into things that have to be built anyway," says Laurie Lundquist, one of the Tempe artists working on the project.
Council members had already taken a look at the proposed graphics for the park which were inspired by the city's existent logo and welcome signs and were extremely pleased with what they saw.
The "modernistic" and "vanguard" plans for the park is not for the graphics alone but will also include lakes, horse trails, an amphitheater, playgrounds and a boardwalk.
The costs for all the park constructions are estimated to be $23 million.
